This 11 'page' lesson consists of numerous detailed close-up photographs showing the various stages of the mosquito life cycle. Amazing photographs of an adult emerging from a pupa are clearly shown. The pupa case is initially used as a "raft" before the adult stands on the water surface to harden its wings before taking off! Although mosquitoes are undesirable pests a class discussion can be held on their importance in the environment - mainly as providing food for a variety of small animals. Numerous whiteboard activities allow for student participation. The activity sheet is in the form of a printable crossword puzzle.
